To be honest, i am not a fan of automatic litter box with rake cleaning system such as LitterMaid or SmartScoop. Their motor sound tend to be noisy and i always wake up easily in the night because of just a weak noise. Second, the rake itself often get stuck easily. The smart design of CatGenie will free you of those classic problem. It has no moving rake that can get stuck and it also flush cat waste out of your house just like your toilet, leaving dry reusable granule for your cats to use again. No danger bacteria, no plastic bag, and no need to manually empty waste compartment.

However it also has minor disadvantage, initial assembling of catgenie will require a bit technical skill, washable granule is also not a cheap ongoing cost, compared to litter robot filler that work will almost any type of clumping litter. Besides, you need access to nearby cold water tap and drain.

Litter Robot is more expensive and it still require you to manually remove cat waste in the end, but CatGenie is fully automatic, no plastic bags or waste removal, it sanitizes – flushes waste away leaving ready to use dry granules. CatGenie design is not perfect, but compared to other competitor, i still consider it as the best.
